- This tent is awesome!! The height of the tent is amazing and keeps it very well ventilated.
- The tent is super easy to set up. I'm a woman and did it by myself in 5 minutes - easy peasy.
- I am 6'3" and I can stand up inside the tent with no problem.
This tent is awesome!! A great price and worked very well for what we needed. The height of the tent is amazing and keeps it very well ventilated. The only con (that really isn't that big of a deal) is that I have a lift on my 4Runner SR5 so it didn't line up perfectly at the back but still no complaints.

This weekend, I used the KingCamp Boundless x3 Car Camping tent on an amazing camping trip to northwestern Virginia. The tent was awesome! I have a 2014 Toyota Highlander and the tent fit the back of my SUV (almost) like a glove - more on that in a minute. First, the tent is super easy to set up. I'm a woman and did it by myself in 5 minutes - easy peasy. The tent is a little heavy in the bag but not unwieldy. Anyway, I don't have a roof rack so I had nothing to attach the top to; I ended up using bunjee cords to attach the top loops to the tires as well. The tent is super spacious, sturdy, and well made. Honestly, it's almost perfect. Here are my few cons: there were a few small gaps between my SUV and the tent as the Highlander has some "curves" at the sides. I didn't want bugs to get in so I just sprayed the gaps with bug spray and didn't see any bugs (except the ones that always get in when you're setting up! lol). Also, and per usual, the tent, once used, is impossible to fit back in the back - bring bunjees and don't fight it. The last con is that the tent has great airflow, at waist height and above. If you're laying below the windows and want a breeze, you better bring a fan. I found airflow to be pretty good when sleeping in the back of the SUV with my SUV windows cracked w/screen covers, and tent windows open/vented. Other than those small issues, the tent is really great and inspires me to want to camp more since set up is so easy, the tent is so roomy, and I don't have to lug camping gear away from my car. I've owned a few different tents and this one is the best for car camping.

We absolutely love the boundless x3. We used it on my Toyota Tacoma and my husbands Chevrolet Tahoe. But, we have found that the floor has a hole worn in it, and because of the ventilation in the roof, we wont be able to use it in cold weather, which is when we do most of our camping.
Suggestions: use a more robust material for the floor and have a velcro covering for the screen ventilation in the roof of the tent.

Took this tent camping for the first time this weekend and unfortunately it rained for one of the days. We left in the morning and moved things into the tent to stay dry and went about our day in the rain. When we returned there was water in the inside bottom of the tent that was coming from the middle seams under the window.
The rain flaps aren’t really large enough to direct water away from the side of the tent and the sides were allowing water to come through and leak down. We strung a table cloth over the outside window to try and direct the water away from the seam which helped a little bit. The kids sleeping bags and other clothes bags got wet and in the cold evening in the 40s, dealing with wetness was not fun.
The connection to the car seemed relatively water tight and didn’t deal with too much water at that connection but the main purpose of a tent is to protect from the conditions, mainly rain, and unfortunately this tent failed this test on the first use.

Just got the tent today 5/23/25. Immediately set it up. Took me about 15-20 min total...getting the tent up 3 min just like they said. But I'm pretty OCD and want to make sure everything is snug and set. It fits wonderfully on my 08 Outback. I can already tell it's going to be very nice room wise inside the tent. Room for a chair and table when it's rainy. My first set of business is going to be buying some spray to waterproof it completely.
Seems well made and not cheap. I bought this tent specifically for the easy up factor. Most other tents you have to put in poles. I need easy especially if I were to roll in at night time. Take down took a bit and I do wish the tent bag was slightly bigger to accommodate for the the fluff of tent take down than you cant really get back once its out of the bag for the first time.
I'll update my review once I've actually camped with it. I'm sure I will be pleased.
We purchased this tent as an “ add a room” tent for our Intech Flyer Pursue trailer. It works great. It is breeze to put up and the quality is great. The opening, which is meant for the back of an SUV, fits perfectly on the back of our little trailer. Even putting it back in the bag is easy since the bag is plenty roomy. We would definitely recommend this tent.

This is a great tent overall. As an experienced camper, I found this tailgate tent to be quite easy to set up by myself. However, with two people, the process would even faster. The quality is impressive, and the price is very reasonable for what I get.
Some of the key features that I love:
1. Power outlet design: The inclusion of a power inlet is a thoughtful touch. It allows me to run power into the tent without having to unzip the door, which is great for convenience and staying dry.

Definitely NOT an easy, 3 minute

Thank you for the honest feedback, and we hear you. '3-minute setup' shouldn't require 50 practice runs to achieve. If it takes that long to get intuitive, then our claim missed the mark, and that's on us.
The BOUNDLESS X3 uses a hub-and-pole system that's designed to go up quickly once you know the sequence, but you're absolutely right: the first few times can feel fiddly, especially if the instructions aren't crystal clear or if one pole gets crossed. That's not 'easy' in the way most campers mean it.
A quick question so we can help:
Where did the setup snag? Was it identifying which pole goes where, getting the hubs to lock, or the rainfly attachment?
We're also passing your feedback to our product team. If '3-minute setup' is only true for seasoned users, we need to either improve the design, the instructions, or adjust our messaging to set better expectations.

Totally digging the tent! Wife and I did a pre-set-up to our Toyota Tacoma with a hard shell bed cap. No flexible poles to haggle with and take down is just as easy! Once I figured how I was going to attach it to the tailgate, I believe it's going to work great. The tent set-up alone takes literally maybe 3 minutes, easier than those canopies that you have to spread apart. Looking forward to our next camping trip. Material seems standard for a tent. A good buy.

We have camped in the KingCamp BOUNDLESS X3 three times since it was delivered in September. We love the roomy interior and ease of setting up. The tent is perfect for warm windless nights in the Summer. When autumn winds arrive we switch to a smaller more wind resistant dome tent. Thank you for making a great product at an affordable price.

Received tent with a manufacture defect! Reported to rep. Frank with the defect. He said he would check into it for me. I told him i had a reservation to use the tent anyway. I used, and it leaked where they sewed the pockets under the windows. Still waiting to hear about the faulty yellow button which was broke in half and popped out first time setting up in the yard. I should have been sent a new pole immediately so i would not have been inconvenienced. I did everything Frank asked of me. Sent pictures and wrote a detailed note. I guess you might say I am not a happy King camper!
$300 may not be a lot of money to some people. That doesn’t mean i should have received inferior product.

Love this thing. I own a 2025 Volvo XC90 and it is a perfect fit, and believe its design will make it compatible with many other makes and models, super easy to erect and breakdown, very roomy. I’ve used it with and without the rainfly, either way the interior space was comfortable.
The stowed dimensions are slightly larger than similar products but are not an inconvenience and fully compensated by how easy it is to set this tent up, I am very pleased with my purchase.
